Atalanta: D’Amico is a Target for Multiple Clubs, Giuntoli is a Potential Successor

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has confirmed that their Sporting Director, Tony D’Amico, is being pursued by other clubs and might depart. He also expressed that the club would be delighted to bring in Cristiano Giuntoli as a replacement.

Speculation is rife about significant changes in directorial positions this summer, and Atalanta appears to be at the heart of these discussions. D’Amico, who has been with the club for four years, has been strongly linked with potential moves to Roma, potentially reuniting with Gian Piero Gasperini, or even to Milan should Igli Tare be dismissed.

Atalanta Prepares for D’Amico’s Potential Departure

Percassi shared his thoughts on the situation with Sky Sport Italia. “I have an extraordinary relationship with D’Amico, and I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible work he’s done for us over the years,” he stated at an awards ceremony. “Since his arrival, Atalanta has achieved third, fourth, fifth place finishes, and this season we are very likely to secure seventh. I can only express my gratitude for everything he contributes.”

“I am aware that, much like our players who attract interest from other clubs, our directors are also subject to such attention. We still have two games left in the season.”

“Our current arrangement might be coming to an end, but our mutual respect will endure indefinitely. We will have to wait and see what unfolds. The priority for Atalanta now is to ensure we are well-prepared to bring in a replacement of equal caliber if Tony decides to pursue a new opportunity.”

Numerous reports suggest that Atalanta has already reached an agreement with former Juventus and Napoli Sporting Director, Giuntoli. Percassi was notably open when questioned about this possibility. “Giuntoli is among the top directors in Italian football; he possesses extensive experience across all levels of the sport. We will observe how things develop. I am well aware that Cristiano Giuntoli is receiving many calls from clubs, so we will see if this potential partnership can be realized.”

“If that were to happen, we would be extremely pleased.”

The Atalanta CEO was also asked about rumors indicating that Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are in a bidding war for midfielder Ederson this summer. “As of now, we have not received any formal offers, only informal interest from clubs. However, it is natural for our players to attract the attention of prominent clubs, and we will evaluate these situations at the appropriate time,” Percassi concluded.
