Atalanta Keen on Alajbegovic Amidst Roma Interest

Sport news

Atalanta has reportedly identified Bosnia and Herzegovina’s young talent, Kerim Alajbegovic, as a key transfer target, adding to the player’s growing list of suitors that includes AS Roma.

The left-sided attacking winger has made a significant impact with the Bosnian national team, playing a crucial role in their qualification for the 2026 World Cup through the play-offs. This season, he was on loan at RB Salzburg, where he showcased his potential.

During his spell in Austria, Alajbegovic netted 13 goals and provided four assists across 44 competitive matches. Following this impressive performance, Bayer Leverkusen exercised their €8 million buy-back option to re-sign him.

Alajbegovic: A Rising Star

Despite Bayer Leverkusen’s buy-back, it is anticipated that Alajbegovic will not remain with the German club. Numerous teams are showing keen interest in the winger, who will celebrate his 19th birthday in September. Among the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation are Roma, Napoli, Inter, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, and Benfica.

Now, according to Sky Sport Italia, Atalanta has firmly placed the teenager on their radar. The Bergamo club is reportedly prepared to allocate the funds from the potential sale of Marco Palestra, estimated at €55 million plus €5 million in add-ons to Chelsea, towards acquiring Alajbegovic.

Given Atalanta’s manager Maurizio Sarri’s preferred 4-3-3 formation, Alajbegovic is seen as an excellent fit. His versatility allows him to operate effectively on either the left or right wing within an attacking front three.
