Atalanta wing-back Lorenzo Bernasconi is facing the likely end of his season due to a knee ligament injury. The 22-year-old sustained the setback during Atalanta’s Coppa Italia semi-final penalty shootout loss to Lazio at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo.
Medical assessments revealed a Grade I-II lesion to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. While the exact recovery timeline is not specified, such injuries typically require a minimum of three weeks of recovery, making it highly probable that Bernasconi will not feature again this season.
Bernasconi: A Product of Atalanta’s Youth System
Bernasconi, a graduate of Atalanta’s esteemed youth academy, has made a significant contribution to the team this season. He has appeared in 37 competitive matches, providing three assists for his teammates.
In related news, Isak Hien, who missed the Coppa Italia semi-final due to injury, is still not fully fit. He remains a significant doubt for Atalanta’s upcoming Serie A match against Cagliari on Monday evening.
