Davide Bartesaghi, a young talent at AC Milan, has expressed his fervent desire to remain with the Rossoneri for the foreseeable future, calling it “my dream to stay at Milan for as long as possible.” He also disclosed a touching gesture from his teammate, Rafael Leao. Bartesaghi, who is now a consistent member of the senior squad, has made 30 appearances this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He recently sat down for an interview on the Off The Pitch podcast.
Bartesaghi, who has been a Milan supporter his entire life, spoke about his deep connection to the club. “It was a different Milan when you were there, so many champions and a different atmosphere. I started watching Milan play a little later than that,” he confessed. Having recently signed a contract extension until June 2030, Bartesaghi aspires to emulate club legends like Paolo Maldini by dedicating his career to a single club. “This is a magnificent club. I have a passion for Milan, the history speaks for itself,” he stated.
The left-back played a significant role in Milan’s Supercoppa Italiana victory against Inter last season. “It was totally unexpected, but we still believed we could do it. That was my first trophy, one of those moments I will never forget,” he recalled. The transition from the youth academy to the senior team was an unforgettable experience for Bartesaghi, a dream come true. He acknowledges the need for continuous improvement and hopes that more young players will have similar opportunities in the future.
Despite the team’s recent inconsistent performances, Bartesaghi insists that the locker room atmosphere remains positive. “We must always be respectful for the older players, be eager to listen and learn, but also have your say, not just stay silent,” he emphasized.
Bartesaghi also shared a heartwarming story about Rafael Leao’s reaction after his first Serie A brace against Sassuolo. “After I scored a brace against Sassuolo, Rafael Leao congratulated me, then the day after he gave me a huge framed picture of my celebration,” he revealed. When asked about his teammates and coaches, Bartesaghi identified Alexis Saelemaekers as the funniest and Mike Maignan as the most serious. He named Sergio Conceicao as his most severe coach and cited Allegri and Pioli as his favorites.
