Inter Milan’s coach Cristian Chivu, players, and directors are scheduled to meet Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on Saturday, May 9th. This significant event precedes their upcoming matches against Lazio.
The team will be in Rome for an extended period due to a unique scheduling arrangement that places two games against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico back-to-back. The first encounter will be a Serie A match on the evening of Saturday, May 9th, followed by the Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday, May 13th.
Pope to Congratulate Inter on Scudetto Win
Following their recent Serie A Scudetto triumph, Inter Milan will be honored with a special audience with Pope Leo XIV. The meeting is set to take place on the morning of Saturday, May 9th, at 10:00 AM local time in the Vatican.
Coach Chivu, President Beppe Marotta, club directors, and the entire squad are expected to attend the audience, which will occur just a few hours before their 6:00 PM local time kickoff against Lazio.
It has become a customary tradition for the Serie A champions to receive a papal audience. Last year, Antonio Conte’s Napoli squad had a similar experience with the then newly appointed American Pope.
