Ex-Italy Striker Doubts Milan’s Transfer Strategy After Arsenal vs. Atletico Match

Former Italian international Aldo Serena has voiced skepticism regarding AC Milan’s offensive transfer plans, specifically questioning the potential signing of Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sørloth. Serena shared his concerns on social media after observing Atletico’s recent 1-0 defeat against Arsenal.

Aldo Serena, a renowned former striker for clubs like AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus, has raised doubts about the Rossoneri’s potential acquisition of Atletico Madrid forward Sørloth during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Serena Suggests Milan Reconsider Signing Sørloth

The Norway international was brought on as a substitute in the latter half of Atletico Madrid’s match against Arsenal, which concluded with a 1-0 loss for the Spanish side. During his time on the field, Sørloth missed a promising opportunity to score, mishitting the ball within Arsenal’s penalty area.

Following this performance, Serena posted an image of Sørloth on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a pointed message directed at AC Milan: “Milan, are we sure?” the former striker questioned.

Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that Sørloth has emerged as Milan’s primary attacking target for the 2026-27 season, especially given the high wage demands associated with other potential targets like Dusan Vlahovic and Robert Lewandowski.

According to the Italian sports newspaper, Sørloth has already indicated his willingness to join Milan. However, the Serie A club has yet to finalize an agreement with Atletico Madrid.

Sørloth, who is 30 years old, has scored 19 goals in 50 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season. His current contract with the Spanish club is set to expire in June 2028.
