Fabregas Commits to Como Amidst Chelsea’s Coaching Appointment

Sport news

Chelsea has appointed Xabi Alonso as their new head coach for the 2026-27 season, while Cesc Fabregas has confirmed he will stay with Como for at least another year.

Fabregas, currently the manager of Como, was rumored to be a candidate for the Chelsea position in recent weeks. However, reports indicate that the Premier League club has opted for former Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fabregas is highly respected by the Chelsea hierarchy but never received a formal approach from the club’s directors. Chelsea executives are aware that Fabregas is dedicated to the Como project and is actively working to develop the team, especially following their qualification for European competitions.

Como requires just one more point in their remaining two Serie A matches to secure a spot in the Europa League. They are also still in contention for a Champions League place, sitting only two points behind fourth position. The team is set to host Parma in their final home game of the season, though they will be without their key player, Nico Paz.
