Lazio, on the other hand, faces the derby knowing their chances of European qualification have ended after their defeat to Inter in the Coppa Italia final earlier in the week. This follows a challenging period where they have lost to Inter twice in quick succession, including a league encounter last weekend. Maurizio Sarri’s team sits in ninth place ahead of Sunday’s match.
Pre-match reports suggest that Lorenzo Pellegrini will be available for Roma for the derby, though he is not expected to start. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini is likely to field an attacking trio of Matias Soule, Paulo Dybala, and Donyell Malen.
Lazio is grappling with significant injury concerns heading into the derby. Both of their primary goalkeepers, Ivan Provedel and Edoardo Motta, are unavailable. Consequently, 24-year-old Alessio Furlanetto is anticipated to make his debut for the Biancocelesti in this crucial match.
Further complicating matters for Lazio, Patric and Mattia Zaccagni are also out injured, and Alessio Romagnoli is suspended. This is expected to lead to starting roles for Nicolo Rovella, Boulaye Dia, and Oliver Provstgaard.
