Four Serie A Stars Expected in France’s 2026 World Cup Squad

According to recent reports, four Serie A footballers are anticipated to be named in Didier Deschamps’ French squad for the 2026 World Cup, which is scheduled to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico next month. However, many other players from the Italian league are expected to miss out on selection.

RMC Sport has reportedly compiled a provisional squad list for the tournament, featuring four players currently playing in Serie A. These include AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram, AC Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot, and Roma’s Manu Koné.

This selection would mean that several other Serie A representatives, who had harbored hopes of making the trip to North America with the French national team, will be overlooked. Notably, Marcus Thuram’s younger brother, Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, and his Juventus teammate Pierre Kalulu are expected to be left out. Additionally, Milan’s Youssouf Fofana and AC Milan striker Christopher Nkunku are also not anticipated to be part of the squad.

Reported France Squad:

Goalkeepers: Mike Maignan, Robin Risser, Brice Samba.

Defenders: Lucas Digne, Malo Gusto, Lucas Hernandez, Theo Hernandez, Ibrahima Konaté, Jules Koundé, William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano.

Midfielders: Eduardo Camavinga, N’Golo Kanté, Adrien Rabiot, Aurelien Tchaouameni, Warren Zaire-Emery.

Forwards: Maghnes Akliouche, Bradley Barcola, Rayan Cherki, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Randal Kolo Muani, Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, Marcus Thuram.
