Jorge Mendes is reportedly emerging as a pivotal figure in AC Milan’s new transfer strategy. Following a reported €70 million deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos, Mendes is now understood to be working on bringing Marc Casadó from Barcelona to the Italian club.
The influential agent has long-standing connections with AC Milan. He has previously facilitated transfers for players like Pervis Estupiñán and João Félix, as well as the move of coach Sérgio Conceição, among others.
With AC Milan having recently streamlined their club structure, abolishing the roles of technical director and sporting director, coach Ruben Amorim is said to be gaining more authority. This shift also involves increased consultation with Mendes.
Mendes’ Influence on Milan’s Transfer Market
According to reports from Spanish publication Sport and Italian outlet Sportitalia, Mendes is actively working to recruit midfielder Casadó from Barcelona.
The Spanish international, who turns 23 in September, is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy and was promoted to the senior squad in 2024. This past season, he made 34 appearances for the Catalan club, providing one assist, though he started in only 15 of those matches.
Meanwhile, significant questions are being raised about the reported €70 million fee agreed upon with Paris Saint-Germain for Goncalo Ramos. This figure, if accurate, would represent a substantial club record for AC Milan, far surpassing the previous best of €49.4 million paid for Rafael Leão, which was not entirely paid upfront.
It remains to be seen how much of this substantial fee will be paid to Mendes in commissions, and whether this arrangement is deemed fair, especially considering his apparent role as an acting sporting director for AC Milan.
