A surprising coaching shuffle could be on the horizon in Serie A this summer. Reports indicate that AC Milan are actively pursuing Antonio Conte, concurrently with Napoli reportedly engaging in negotiations with Massimiliano Allegri.
Conte recently departed Napoli after a two-year tenure that saw him secure the Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana, guiding the team to a second-place finish this season. While many anticipated his return to the Italian national team, this may not be his next career step.
Conte is a Priority for Milan
According to Corriere dello Sport, Milan has identified Conte as the prime candidate to rejuvenate the club’s performance, especially after failing to qualify for the Champions League once again. Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly on the verge of being dismissed by AC Milan as part of a broader club restructuring. Intriguingly, Allegri has been in discussions with Napoli director Giovanni Manna for several weeks about taking over from Conte.
This scenario would effectively see a direct exchange of coaches between the two clubs. It would also represent a peculiar career move for Allegri, who has previously achieved Scudetto success with Juventus and Inter Milan.
