Pulisic Opens Up About AC Milan’s Struggles and His Goal Drought

Sport news

Christian Pulisic acknowledges that the latter part of the 2025-26 season was a challenging period for both him personally and for AC Milan as a team. Despite currently experiencing a goal drought, the American star remains confident that he will soon find his scoring touch again. He expressed this sentiment by saying, “Sometimes one will bounce off your knee and go in and then it seems like everything goes in after that.”

Pulisic: A Tough Time for Milan, But Not Worried About Goal Drought

The USMNT forward started the 2025-26 season in impressive form, netting four goals and providing two assists in his first six Serie A matches. By the end of December, his league goal count had reached eight. However, the former Chelsea player has not scored for either club or country since then.

For AC Milan, the end of the season was disappointing. Despite spending a significant portion of the campaign in second place, they ultimately missed out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the 2025-26 season.

This underwhelming fifth-place finish resulted in the immediate departure of head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada, and CEO Giorgio Furlani the day after the season concluded.

“I don’t try to place blame or figure out the problems,” Pulisic stated in an interview with ESPN. “There are moments where I could have done better, and it was a difficult time for our team. It was a difficult time for me, and that’s what it comes down to.”

He added, “I haven’t changed the way I train, the way that I prepare, the way that I continue to move forward and try to improve every day. I’m still doing that every day, and that’s why I can keep my head high. Obviously, I’m disappointed, but now I have to look forward to what’s in front of me.”

Pulisic also emphasized that he is not overly concerned by his ongoing goal drought in 2026, saying, “I’ve had this happen before in my career. There are difficult times, and then sometimes one will bounce off your knee and go in, and then it seems like everything goes in after that.”
