Antoine Semenyo has revealed that his former teammate at Bournemouth, Dean Huijsen, was highly confident about his footballing future. As soon as Huijsen joined the English club from Juventus in 2024, he reportedly predicted his own move to Real Madrid in 2025.
Huijsen, who was playing for Bournemouth with Semenyo during the 2024-25 season before Semenyo’s transfer to Manchester City in January 2026, apparently made a bold statement about his aspirations.
Speaking to All Out Football, the Ghana international recalled Huijsen’s prediction: “When he [Huijsen] signed for Bournemouth, he said: ‘I’m going to sign for Real Madrid next year.’ I was like, What are you talking about?
“You need to start building up in the Prem. It wasn’t like that for me, so I don’t think it’s going to be that for you, but, again, he said, ‘I’ll sign for Real Madrid next summer.’
“He called it, and we were like, “What are you talking about?””
Semenyo expressed his surprise when Real Madrid actually secured a deal to sign Huijsen before the start of the 2024-25 summer transfer window. “When the talks started happening, I was thinking: ‘Oh my God, this is madness if it goes through,” Semenyo concluded.
The 21-year-old Huijsen has since made a significant impact in his first season at Real Madrid, featuring in 35 appearances and scoring two goals. Prior to his move to Spain, he played for Juventus and was loaned to Roma in Serie A during the latter half of the 2023-24 campaign, making one appearance for Juventus and 14 for Roma.
Huijsen joined Real Madrid for approximately €62 million last summer, with his contract in the Spanish capital set to expire in June 2030.
