AC Milan and Juventus shared the points at San Siro in a Serie A fixture that failed to produce goals, despite late drama for both sides. Alexis Saelemaekers’ shot struck the crossbar, and Khephren Thuram had a goal disallowed for offside, leaving both teams wanting more from a crucial encounter.
This match represented a significant turning point in the season for both clubs. AC Milan, holding a mere three-point lead over Juventus in third place, were looking to close the gap on leaders Napoli. Juventus, in turn, needed a positive result to fend off the advances of Como and Roma in the hunt for the fourth Champions League spot. Milan’s Davide Bartesaghi started despite not being fully fit, while Juventus were without Arkadiusz Milik and Juan Cuadrado, with Kenan Yıldız and Dušan Vlahović only making the bench.
Early in the match, Youssouf Fofana fired wide from a challenging angle after evading Andrea Cambiaso. Juventus’s Adrien Rabiot then tested Michele Di Gregorio with a powerful shot, and Rafael Leão’s follow-up effort sailed over the bar.
Moments later, Juventus thought they had taken the lead when Francisco Conceição’s low cross found Khephren Thuram at the far post. However, the Frenchman’s strike was ruled out for offside.
Francisco Conceição continued to be a threat down the right flank, forcing a save from Mike Maignan with a shot at the near post. Bartesaghi, struggling with his fitness against Conceição, was replaced by Pervis Estupiñán at halftime.
Milan came agonizingly close to scoring when Alexis Saelemaekers unleashed a ferocious shot from ten yards out, assisted by Leão, that rattled the underside of the crossbar. Juventus immediately launched a counter-attack, with Jonathan David going down just outside the box after maneuvering between Matteo Gabbia and Fikayo Tomori, but the referee waved away penalty appeals.
Luka Modrić was forced off after a head collision with Manuel Locatelli, requiring medical attention and being replaced by Ardon Jashari.
Jonathan David narrowly missed connecting with a dangerous cross from the right. Later, Dušan Vlahović’s angled drive was parried by Maignan, but he was flagged offside.
This goalless draw marked the second consecutive 0-0 between these two rivals this season and extended Milan’s Serie A drought against Juventus to six matches without scoring.
