Serie A Players Named in Milan Escort Investigation Despite No Confirmed Involvement

Sport news

Several current and former Serie A players have been mentioned in connection with an investigation into a Milan escort service. It is crucial to emphasize that none of the individuals named are currently under investigation, and engaging in paid sex is not a criminal offense in Italy. However, they may be called to testify as witnesses in upcoming hearings.

The case involves an alleged organized network operated by Emanuele Buttini and Deborah Ronchi, as reported by Il Giornale via TuttoMercatoWeb. Player names surfaced through wiretap intercepts where escorts and their associates discussed arrangements.

While most names were legally redacted in official court documents, an administrative error led to some names becoming visible in a court order. These included Marcus Pedersen of Torino and Christian Volpato of Sassuolo.

Calafiori, Leao, and Others Linked to Scandal Amidst Ongoing Investigation

Formally listed in the prosecutor’s request to the investigating judge are Cheickh Niasse of Verona and former Inter and Lazio player Dejan Stankovic, along with his son Filip.

A more extensive list, reportedly containing over fifty footballers, emerged from a set of search keywords used in a warrant executed last Monday. These keywords were intended to guide the technical analysis of seized devices.

The prosecutor’s office suggests these names appeared in intercepted communications, indicating a potential connection rather than confirmed wrongdoing. The list includes numerous current and former Inter and Milan players such as Alessandro Bastoni, Raoul Bellanova, Yann Bisseck, Achraf Hakimi, Philippe Coutinho, Milan Skriniar, Carlos Augusto, Koni De Winter, Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud, and Jeremy Menez.

Also mentioned are Arsenal and Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori, former Juventus and Roma defender Dean Huijsen, Dusan Vlahovic, Arthur Melo, Gianluca Scamacca, Matteo Ruggeri, Daniel Maldini, and Nuno Tavares.

At this stage, it is impossible to ascertain if any of the named individuals actually engaged with the alleged network. Their appearance in search keywords alone does not constitute any wrongdoing or confirmed involvement.
