Spalletti Praises Juventus Unity and Progress: ‘On the Right Track’

Sport news

Luciano Spalletti has expressed his satisfaction with Juventus’ current form, stating the team is “on the right track” after their victory tightened their grip on second place. He emphasized the strong bond among the players, noting their mutual care and willingness to share responsibilities.

Juventus started the match assertively, with Jonathan David scoring within the first 90 seconds. Khephren Thuram extended their lead in the second half, converting Weston McKennie’s cross.

Spalletti was particularly pleased with the team’s celebration of Thuram’s goal, highlighting it as a sign of their strong camaraderie. “It’s marvellous to see a player score and want to share his joy with his team-mates and the fans,” he remarked. “It all comes from the affection, the rapport between players, and when you give that friendship, you receive it in return. They say if you want to find a friend, then behave like a friend.”

This win is a crucial boost for Juventus, as it widens their lead to five points over fifth-placed teams and brings them within three points of joint second-placed Milan and Napoli, with a key match against Milan on the horizon.

Spalletti acknowledged the importance of maintaining intensity, especially given the results of other teams. “What we absolutely could not do wrong, seeing the other results, was dropping our intensity,” he explained. “We knew that Bologna had a tough week with travel and the Europa League, so we knew that if we maintained the intensity, it would give us a significant advantage. Everyone did that really well, and we scored early.”

The period since March 1, marked by a dramatic comeback against Roma, has seen Juventus secure five wins in their last six games, suggesting a turning point in their season.

While Spalletti previously downplayed immediate title aspirations, he understands the pressure and expectation at Juventus. “There is certainly a lot of responsibility and pressure here, but the team is trying to play good football, the players care for each other and are ready to share the burden, that is fundamental for a coach,” he stated. “We are on the right track and every day I see something more, so we want to keep going like this.”
