Arthur Melo Set to Leave Juventus with Contract Termination
Juventus and Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo are reportedly working towards terminating his contract, which is currently set to expire on June 30, 2027. This move signals the likely end of his six-year spell with the Turin club.
Arthur joined Juventus from Barcelona in 2020 for approximately €80 million as part of a player swap that saw Miralem Pjanic move to Catalonia for €60 million. However, he has struggled to establish himself as a key player in Turin.
Following two seasons where he made a limited number of appearances (22 in Serie A in his first year and 20 in his second), Arthur was loaned out for four consecutive campaigns. He spent time at Liverpool, Fiorentina, Girona, and most recently, Gremio, with none of these clubs exercising their option to make the moves permanent.
His return to his boyhood club, Gremio, in Brazil proved to be his most productive period, revitalizing a career that seemed to have stalled. However, Gremio's financial difficulties prevented them from meeting Juventus' valuation for a permanent transfer.
With no clear loan destination available and his contract still having a year remaining, Juventus appears inclined to formally end his time with the club rather than pursue another loan arrangement.
