The transfer negotiations between Juventus and Fiorentina are once again gaining momentum, with a deal that was previously on the verge of collapse now back on the table.

According to reports from Alfredo Pedullà, as cited by CalcioMercato, discussions have officially recommenced to bring Daniele Rugani back to Florence.

This renewed pursuit is directly linked to Fiorentina's strategic planning for their defense. The Viola may potentially move on Pietro Comuzzo this summer and are actively searching for a replacement who possesses greater experience at both national and international levels. This specific profile has led them to reconsider Rugani.

Juventus Eager to Reduce Wage Bill as Fiorentina Circles for Rugani

The Italian defender is already familiar with the Florence club, having spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at Fiorentina.

His temporary move occurred during the winter transfer window, involving a €500,000 loan fee with an obligation to buy set at €2 million. This obligation was contingent on the club's league survival and a specific number of appearances made by Rugani.

While Fiorentina successfully avoided relegation, the appearance clause was not met, leading the Viola to opt against activating the purchase option.

Currently, the two clubs are re-engaging in dialogue, with Fiorentina's Fabio Paratici and Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali exploring a financial arrangement that would be significantly less costly for Fiorentina compared to the initial agreement made a year ago.

Rugani is under contract with Juventus until June 30, 2028, earning a net salary of €1.8 million per season. Fiorentina is pushing to lower the transfer fee, a move that would enable Juventus to save approximately €6.6 million gross in wages over the remaining duration of his contract.
