Spalletti Pleased with Juventus' Juventus Victory, Praises Debutant Goalkeeper Grabara

Luciano Spalletti was clearly satisfied after Juventus secured a 5-0 Europa League victory against NEC Nijmegen at the Allianz Stadium. He specifically acknowledged the debut of goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Spalletti stated, "I am extremely satisfied. They approached the pitch with clear minds, transformed doubts into decisive actions, and executed them well. They capitalized on their strong desire to achieve something. Nico [Bonaventura] was instrumental on the first goal, seizing the ball."

Grabara maintained a clean sheet in his first match for the club, a feat Spalletti was quick to commend. "Allow me to congratulate Grabara, who demonstrated composure and skill with his feet," he remarked. "In matches like these, goalkeepers become an additional player on the field, and being able to find an unmarked player in possession opens up opportunities."

While pleased, Spalletti did point out areas for improvement, particularly the space left behind the defense. He defended the tactical shift, explaining, "Considering our performance, we could have been more compact, naturally leaving less room behind the back line. Given the outcome, the decision to alter our approach was the correct one. This is a strategy we can employ to interpret matches, similar to how we secured some wins last season. Currently, with a limited squad, we must adapt."

Spalletti also cautioned against underestimating the opponent, mentioning NEC's third-place finish in the Eredivisie last season and their previous performance against Bodo/Glimt.

"Tonight, the players remained focused. They were intensely marking every opponent and could have posed a significant threat if they had gained momentum," he observed. "They play without fear. Despite suffering heavy defeats, they intensify their efforts in subsequent matches."

When asked about Zeki Çelik's positioning for the fourth goal, Spalletti offered a smile, saying, "When you explore different attacking avenues, unexpected situations often arise."

Addressing Randal Kolo Muani, Spalletti revealed the striker's deep frustration over his goalless start to the season. "His running style benefits greatly from the space available. He also absorbed a few challenges and needs to learn to withstand physical contact. He must assert himself more forcefully, as he possesses both strength and health. Last night, while training camp was optional, he was the only one present at dinner and dined alone. He feels the lack of contribution immensely."
