Crystal Palace midfielder Daichi Kamada has conveyed his good wishes to the Lazio supporters ahead of the Conference League quarter-final second leg against Fiorentina. He admitted to being uncertain about the reasons behind his departure from the Roman club.
The Japanese international was a prominent player in Crystal Palace’s 3-0 victory in the first leg. He is now a key figure for Oliver Glasner in Florence, a stark contrast to the uncertainty that marked his exit from Lazio after a single season where his contract situation remained unresolved.
“I had a wonderful year at Lazio,” Kamada told reporters at his pre-match press conference, as quoted by FirenzeViola. “There were also some challenging periods, but it seemed like the arrangements were in place for me to stay. Then, I repeat, I am unaware of what transpired between my agent and Lotito. Nevertheless, I extend my regards to all the Biancocelesti supporters.”
These diplomatic yet pointed remarks are expected to draw attention in Rome, where Claudio Lotito’s management of player contracts has frequently been a subject of controversy.
Crystal Palace Star Kamada Reflects on European Experience Ahead of Fiorentina Clash
Regarding the upcoming match, Kamada spoke cautiously about his past European football experience while acknowledging the unpredictability of outcomes.
“I have participated in numerous European matches previously and possess experience, but I am unsure how much that will contribute tomorrow,” he stated. He highlighted the team’s strong defense and effective counter-attacking play, which have been crucial to Palace’s progress in the competition, as key factors.
“Both myself and Glasner have achieved trophy success in the past. We aim to replicate that by defending well and capitalizing on breakaways. That is the reason for our success.”
When asked about his own future, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Kamada remained deliberately ambiguous. “I want to concentrate on the present and savor the moment,” he said.
