Midfielder Ismael Kone has acknowledged the existence of a €35 million release clause in his Sassuolo contract, a detail that could pique the interest of both Inter and Milan. Despite this, the Canadian international states his current satisfaction with the Neroverdi’s project.
Kone Confirms €35m Release Clause, Leaves Future Open
Kone has demonstrated impressive form during his debut season in Serie A. He made the move from Marseille, following reports of discord with former head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who now manages Tottenham. His initial transfer to Sassuolo was a loan with a €2.5 million fee, and the option to buy clause in his contract was later exercised for €13 million in the January transfer window.
Since then, Kone has featured in 34 Serie A matches, contributing six goals from the midfield. This performance has reportedly attracted the attention of prominent clubs, including both Inter and Milan, according to recent Italian media reports.
Kone will be available for transfer this summer for a fee of €35 million, as the player himself recently confirmed. When questioned about a €35 million release clause in a post-match press conference following Sassuolo’s 3-2 loss to Lecce on Sunday, Kone responded affirmatively: “Yes.”
He further expressed his happiness with his current situation at Sassuolo, stating: “I definitely want to carry on like this. I get along very well with the club and the supporters, but you never know what happens in football. You have to live in the moment, let’s see.”
