OFX Irish Legends Set to Compete at Historic Carton House

Golf news

The highly anticipated 2026 OFX Irish Legends tournament is poised to take place from July 9-12 on the challenging Montgomerie Course at Carton House in County Kildare, Ireland. This prestigious event is a key fixture in the Staysure Legends Tour, a global circuit showcasing over 50 legendary golfers, including renowned names such as Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley, Ian Woosnam, and Michael Campbell.

Carton House, a magnificent 1,100-acre parkland resort situated west of Dublin, boasts two distinct golf courses. One was designed by Mark O’Meara, while the other, the Montgomerie Course, is recognized for its demanding layout featuring significant pot bunkers and narrow fairways.

“The course demands precise iron play, allowing players to execute their strategy effectively. It’s a formidable challenge that will undoubtedly crown a deserving champion,” commented Paul McGinley. “Carton House is an exceptional venue steeped in history. Many of Ireland’s finest golfers have honed their skills here through Golf Ireland programs. Returning to play here feels like a full-circle moment.”

Attendance at the tournament is free of charge; tickets can be secured by registering on the Staysure Legends Tour website.

Previous winners of the OFX Irish Legends include James Kingston, Adilson da Silva, and Peter Baker. Paul McGinley will be vying to become the first Irish player to win the tournament on home turf.

As part of the Staysure Legends Tour, the event will once again offer unique “Playing Experiences.” These exclusive opportunities allow amateur golfers to play alongside some of the sport’s most celebrated figures, providing an intimate and memorable golfing encounter.

“The success of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open in 2024 and 2025 placed us on a global stage,” stated Tim Mullen, managing partner of Belmullet Hospitality Group, the owners of Carton House. “We anticipate the Legends event will have a similar impact for us.”
