Paolo Di Canio’s Painful Table Headbutt During Italian Football Rant on Live TV

Sport news

During a live television broadcast, former Italian striker Paolo Di Canio intended to humorously headbutt a table as he discussed the state of Italian football. However, his demonstration resulted in genuine pain and required intervention from fellow pundit Fabio Capello.

Di Canio, once a celebrated figure at West Ham, found himself in the Italian spotlight again after sustaining an injury on air Wednesday night. He was offering commentary on the Champions League quarter-final matches between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, and Arsenal and Sporting CP.

The host, Federica Masolin, posed a question to Di Canio about when Italian football might reach the caliber of the Premier League. In response, Di Canio sarcastically remarked, “I’ve been good so far, and now you want to provoke me. You want to make me sad!”

Following this statement, the ex-striker proceeded to repeatedly strike the table in front of him with his head. The force of his actions was evidently more than he anticipated, leading Fabio Capello, also a Sky Sports pundit, to rise from his seat and check on Di Canio’s well-being.

“What did you do?” Capello inquired.

Di Canio, already tending to his head with a tissue, responded, “You provoked me, I’m going to smash my head.”
