Roma is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a deal with Atalanta’s sporting director, Tony D’Amico, with expectations that an agreement will be reached by the beginning of next week. In addition to D’Amico, the club is also preparing to welcome Atalanta’s first team doctor, Riccardo Del Vescovo.
The capital club is undertaking a significant internal restructuring, aiming to bring in two crucial figures from coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s former club, Atalanta.
D’Amico Set for Roma Move After Atalanta Departure
Sporting director D’Amico has officially concluded his four-year tenure at Atalanta and is now poised to reunite with Gasperini in Rome. According to reports from Il Corriere dello Sport, negotiations between the former Atalanta director and Roma are in an advanced stage, with Gasperini reportedly in frequent contact with the 46-year-old.
The publication confirms that Roma and D’Amico are scheduled to reconvene over the weekend, with both parties optimistic about signing a contract by the start of the following week.
D’Amico’s arrival is expected to coincide with the departure of Frederic Massara. While the current Roma sporting director is still involved in contract extension discussions, he is anticipated to leave the club following the dismissal of Senior Advisor Claudio Ranieri in April.
Il Corriere dello Sport further indicates that Atalanta’s Head of Medical Services, Riccardo Del Vescovo, will follow D’Amico to Rome to work alongside Gasperini once more.
Gasperini had previously expressed dissatisfaction with certain transfer market decisions during the 2025-26 season and had also raised concerns about the prolonged recovery periods for some players. Roma is now reportedly set to overhaul the club’s structure in alignment with the coach’s recommendations.
