Adrien Rabiot to Discuss Future with New Milan Coach, Criticizes France Teammates' World Cup Behavior

Adrien Rabiot has stated that he will hold a conversation with the new Milan coach, Ruben Amorim, once he returns from his holidays. He also expressed his disapproval of what he deemed "unacceptable behavior" exhibited by some of his French national teammates during the World Cup third-place play-off match.

Speaking to the media, including Gazzetta dello Sport, after France's 6-4 defeat to England in the World Cup third-place play-off, Rabiot did not hold back in his assessment of the team's performance, particularly in the first half.

Rabiot's Post-Match Reaction to France vs. England

"It was a disgraceful first half; I witnessed unacceptable behavior," Rabiot commented. "We entered the pitch in what I would describe as a disgraceful manner. I observed actions from certain players that I had never seen before. It was disappointing because it was our final opportunity to leave a positive impression."

"There was significant disappointment following the semi-final loss to Spain, but we still had a job to finish, and we couldn't be satisfied ending it in such a way," he added.

"At halftime, we talked and resolved to show some pride. The second half was clearly much better because, in the first half, certain behaviors were unacceptable. We would have liked to finish with a win, also for Didier Deschamps and all his staff, but this defeat doesn't diminish what he has achieved over the years."

Rabiot is set to enjoy a period of vacation before commencing training for his second season with Milan at San Siro.

"I will be returning to Milan, of course. Then, I will speak with the new coach," he confirmed. "Prior to this, I preferred to concentrate on the World Cup and avoid distractions from other matters. These holidays are well-deserved. These have been truly challenging days mentally."

Milan recently parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri after their failure to qualify for the Champions League in the 2025-26 season and appointed Ruben Amorim, a former manager, as his successor.

Allegri maintained a very good relationship with Rabiot, having managed him at both Juventus and Milan. The Italian tactician had actively sought to sign the French midfielder a year ago. Following his dismissal by Milan, Allegri has since signed a three-year contract with Napoli.
