Atalanta Confirm New De Ketelaere and Ahanor Injury Concerns
Atalanta will be without Charles De Ketelaere and Honest Ahanor for their upcoming friendly match against Athletic Club. Both players have sustained muscular injuries.
The two footballers were forced to leave training in Bergamo on Wednesday due to their injuries. Subsequent medical examinations have revealed the extent of the damage.
Atalanta Grapples with Injury Woes
Club officials confirmed that Charles De Ketelaere has been diagnosed with a strained adductor muscle in his left leg. Meanwhile, defender Honest Ahanor is also dealing with an adductor issue, affecting his right leg.
While both injuries are classified as low-grade strains, indicating no significant damage, the players will be rested and closely monitored over the next few days.
This means that De Ketelaere and Ahanor will definitely miss Atalanta's final pre-season friendly against Athletic Club, scheduled to take place at the New Balance Arena on Friday. This match is part of the XXVII edition of the Trofeo Bortolotti.
The team is already missing Kamaldeen Sulemana, who is expected to be sidelined for two months due to a knee ligament injury.
Atalanta, also known as La Dea, is set to commence their season with a Conference League play-off against Hapoel Tel-Aviv on August 20, with the second leg scheduled for August 27.
Their opening fixture in Serie A will be at home against Sassuolo on August 23.
