Bologna Eyes Fiorentina's Piccoli as Castro Replacement Following €35m Roma Transfer
Following the significant sale of Santiago Castro to Roma for an estimated €35 million, Bologna is actively seeking a new centre-forward. Current reports suggest that the Rossoblu are focusing their attention on Fiorentina's Roberto Piccoli as a potential replacement.
According to insights from Gianluca Di Marzio, Bologna has initiated preliminary discussions with Fiorentina regarding Piccoli, a 25-year-old forward. These negotiations are described as being in their nascent stages.
Bologna's preference, as of Thursday's updates, is to secure Piccoli on a permanent transfer this summer.
Genoa had also expressed interest in Piccoli by making an inquiry to Fiorentina about his availability. However, these discussions have not progressed further on Fiorentina's end.
Piccoli joined Fiorentina in the latter part of the 2025 summer transfer window, transferring from Cagliari for a reported fee of €25 million.
During the 2025-26 season, he contributed four goals in 32 Serie A appearances and added three more goals in 10 Conference League matches.
Bologna targeting Piccoli from Fiorentina
Bologna is reportedly in preliminary talks with Fiorentina for the acquisition of Roberto Piccoli, a striker they are considering as a replacement for Santiago Castro, whose transfer to Roma is valued at €35 million. While discussions have commenced, they are understood to be in the early phases. Bologna's objective is to sign Piccoli on a permanent basis this summer. Genoa had also inquired about the player, but no further progress has been made with them. Piccoli moved to Fiorentina from Cagliari in late summer 2025 for approximately €25 million and scored a combined seven goals across Serie A and the Conference League in the 2025-26 season.
