De Ketelaere, now with Atalanta, had been linked to a PSG move that didn't materialize. He shared details of his summer negotiations in an interview with Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure.
When asked about Atalanta's rumored €50 million price tag, De Ketelaere responded, “Yes, I think it was around that amount.” He added, “But, we have to find a team willing to spend that amount. Several teams in the Premier League could have done it, but it didn’t happen. I spoke to PSG, but in the end, they chose Ferran Torres.”
He expressed contentment at Atalanta, recognizing the importance of regular playing time after his spell at Milan. “I’d like to fight for titles one day. I have that ambition, but I’m only 25 and still have time,” he said.
De Ketelaere has not scored yet in the 2026-27 season, following five goals and seven assists across all competitions for Atalanta last term. He is expected to play for Belgium against Italy in their opening Nations League match of the 2026-27 campaign at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday night.
