Reports emerging from Italy and Spain suggest that Genoa is close to finalizing a deal to acquire Swiss international midfielder Djibril Sow from Sevilla.

While initial speculation from the newspaper Il Secolo XIX identified Sow as a target, transfer insider Matteo Moretto, alongside Fabrizio Romano, has claimed on their Italian YouTube channel that an agreement is practically reached.

This information has been corroborated by Sky Sports Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenburg and Swiss publication Blick.

The move for the 29-year-old, who is currently under contract with Sevilla until June 2029, has progressed rapidly. Personal terms are also anticipated to be agreed upon.

Sow joined Sevilla from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023 for a fee of €10 million.

The midfielder brings considerable experience, having earned 56 senior caps for Switzerland and participating in four of his nation's six matches during the 2026 World Cup. Last season, he contributed positively to Sevilla's campaign with five goals and four assists in 33 La Liga appearances.

His previous clubs include FC Zurich, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Young Boys, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
