Inter's Special Jersey Against Real Madrid Due to Spanish Law

September 9, 2026Carlos Mendoza1 мин

Inter Milan is set to wear an unusual jersey for their Champions League match against Real Madrid this evening. This alteration is necessary to comply with Spanish law, which prohibits betting company sponsorships on football jerseys.

The match is scheduled to kick off at the Bernabeu in Madrid at 20:00 UK time (21:00 CEST).

While the Nerazzurri will don their traditional blue and black stripes against Real Madrid's all-white kit, their jersey will be missing their main sponsor, Betsson.Sport. This is because Spanish legislation, similar to Italian law, bans advertisements from betting companies in football.

Interestingly, Inter was previously permitted to display their Betsson.Sport logo during a match against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano in November 2025. However, a subsequent legal appeal has eliminated the distinction between betting and sports infotainment, making such sponsorships no longer permissible.

Inter is not the first club to face this situation. FC Kobenhavn had to remove their Unibet sponsorship logo when they played against Villarreal and Barcelona.
