Roma Revise Rodrigo Mora Transfer Terms with FC Porto, Proposing Loan with €50m Option

According to Sky Sport Italia, AS Roma has again adjusted their proposal for Rodrigo Mora, FC Porto's talented player. The new offer involves a loan deal with an initial fee of €7 million. This loan agreement would include an option to purchase Mora permanently for an additional €43 million, a sum that could potentially become an obligation depending on certain performance-related conditions.

Mora himself is reportedly eager to secure a move to a club where he can consistently feature in the starting lineup. Having progressed through the Porto youth academy, his current playing style is understood not to be a perfect fit for the tactical approach of his current coach, Francesco Farioli.

The primary challenge in finalizing the transfer lies in agreeing upon a payment structure and timeline that is acceptable to both clubs for the total potential package of €50 million.

Evolving Negotiation Terms for Rodrigo Mora at Roma

Previous reports suggested that an agreement was close, with an initial €25 million deal covering 50% of the player's rights, followed by an option to acquire the remaining share at the end of the season for another €25 million.

However, Sky Sport Italia indicates a shift in strategy. The latest proposal from Roma is for a one-year loan of Mora for €7 million, with a subsequent option to buy him for €43 million in June 2027.

This purchase option could escalate into a mandatory purchase obligation if specific criteria are met. These conditions may include the team achieving certain objectives, such as European qualification, and the number of appearances Mora makes during his potential loan spell.

This revised structure allows Roma to assess the player over a season without being immediately committed to a substantial upfront investment, unlike the previous proposals which involved a larger initial outlay.

Despite the new terms, both clubs are reportedly seeking clarity and guarantees regarding the financial implications and the progression of the deal next summer. It is also understood that Porto is not seeking a buy-back clause as part of the agreement.

The 19-year-old player, described as a trequartista who also operates effectively from wider positions, is seen as a potential source of much-needed creativity for Gian Piero Gasperini's team.
