Roma Target Diego Moreira Amidst Mason Greenwood Transfer Battle

July 10, 2026Carlos Mendoza2 мин

Roma have identified Diego Moreira, a Belgian winger playing for RC Strasbourg, as a new transfer target. This comes as the race for Mason Greenwood continues with Fenerbahce and Atletico Madrid reportedly in competition.

The Italian club is seeking a forward capable of operating on the left flank of their attack. Initially, Greenwood was considered the primary choice for coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Roma Shifts Focus to Moreira After Greenwood Pursuit Intensifies

Roma appeared to have exited the pursuit of Greenwood when Fenerbahce made a reported offer of €40 million, with an additional €2 million in add-ons. However, recent reports from L'Equipe suggest that Atletico Madrid has re-entered the race.

Spanish sources indicate that Atletico Madrid is proposing €45 million plus a €5 million bonus. Despite this potentially higher offer, it is suggested that Greenwood might favor a return to Madrid, having previously played there for Getafe, even if the salary offered by the Spanish club is lower.

Regardless of the outcome of the Greenwood situation, Roma seems to have turned their attention to other options.

The latest name linked with Roma is Moreira, who is currently representing Belgium in the 2026 World Cup. He participated in Belgium's penalty shootout victory against Senegal.

Moreira was transferred from Chelsea, their affiliated club, to RC Strasbourg in the summer of 2024 for a fee of €8.5 million. He will turn 22 next month and has previously represented both Belgium and Portugal at youth international levels before committing to his birth country.

Both coach Gasperini and new Roma director Tony D’Amico had previously expressed interest in Moreira when they were with Atalanta. However, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Strasbourg's asking price for the player is now €40 million. His potential salary demands are understood to be significantly lower than those of Mason Greenwood.

Another alternative player mentioned in media reports is Dan Ndoye, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest.
