Roma's €28m+ Offer for Feyenoord's Read Rejected, Negotiations Continue
Roma has yet to reach an agreement with Feyenoord for the transfer of Givairo Read, with reports indicating that their offer of €28 million plus bonuses was turned down. Despite the rejection, discussions are expected to persist.
The Italian club had hoped that their most recent proposal, which included €28 million and a 10% share of any future sale, would be sufficient. However, both Voetbal International and Sky Sport Italia have confirmed that Feyenoord has rejected this offer.
Feyenoord's Valuation Remains Firm at €30 Million
Feyenoord's asking price for Read is still €30 million. With interest also reportedly coming from Nottingham Forest, the Dutch club believes they can achieve this valuation.
Roma is not abandoning the pursuit and plans to continue negotiations. These discussions will also cover commission fees and various performance-related bonuses that could increase the total package.
Read has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Serie A club and is keen to join Gian Piero Gasperini's squad, which will compete in the Champions League. The right-back, who celebrated his 20th birthday in June, is also capable of playing on the left side when needed.
Last season, Read contributed two goals and three assists in 20 competitive matches for Feyenoord. Roma's initial bid was €25 million, and while the latest offer was an improvement, it was not enough to meet Feyenoord's demands.
