During a morning interview, Malagò indicated that Paolo Maldini is his preferred choice for the technical director position. He also suggested that Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini might not be the sole contenders for the coaching role, stating, "It's not out of the question that it might involve more than just these two individuals."
Malagò further clarified his position on the coaching selection: "The only truth is that I haven’t spoken to any coach; that would deeply contradict my intention, which is to evaluate and decide with the technical director who it will be."
