Representatives for defender Matteo Ruggeri have acknowledged interest from both Juventus and Roma, stating there have been inquiries from Italy and abroad regarding the Atlético Madrid player.
The full-back, who has been a consistent starter for Atlético Madrid, is reportedly a target for the Italian giants. His agents, Manuel Montipò and Tullio Tinti, made these comments to Sky Sport Italia following a meeting with Inter directors. While the meeting was primarily about Inter’s own players, the conversation naturally turned to Ruggeri’s future.
Montipò highlighted Ruggeri’s performance, noting his seven assists in 48 appearances for Atlético Madrid and emphasizing that the club is pleased with him and wishes to keep him. However, he acknowledged that the transfer market is active and unforeseen developments are always possible, confirming that “there are requests from Italy and abroad,” though nothing is concrete at this moment.
When specifically asked about links to Roma and Juventus, Montipò stated that while top clubs naturally seek strong players, he couldn’t confirm specifics. Tullio Tinti then intervened, confirming the interest from both clubs and hinting at even more suitors before departing with a smile.
Ruggeri, who joined Atlético Madrid from Atalanta for €17 million last summer, has a contract until June 2030. The 23-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for the Italian national team.
