Bournemouth Could Target Bologna’s Lucumi to Replace Senesi

Sport news

Italian reports suggest that AFC Bournemouth is considering signing Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi as a potential replacement for Marcos Senesi, whose transfer to Tottenham Hotspur was recently finalized.

Senesi, who was previously linked with Juventus, has departed Bournemouth after a four-season tenure, joining Tottenham on a free transfer. This move leaves the Cherries in the market for new center-back options this summer.

According to Nicolo Schira, Bournemouth has expressed interest in acquiring the Colombian international, Lucumi, who will celebrate his 28th birthday near the end of the current month. Lucumi’s contract includes a release clause of €28 million, which is understood to be valid until July 10th.

In the previous summer transfer window, Sunderland also made an attempt to bring Lucumi to the Premier League. They initially offered €25 million, later increasing their bid to €28 million plus a 10% sell-on clause. However, as the defender’s release clause had expired by that time, Bologna was not obligated to accept the offer, and Lucumi remained with the club for the 2026-27 season.

Since joining Bologna from Genk in 2022, Lucumi has made 123 appearances in Serie A, including 29 during the most recent campaign.
