Bernardo Silva has confirmed his departure from Manchester City at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, and Juventus is actively pursuing a free transfer for the 2026-27 campaign. While the Italian club is optimistic about securing a deal, they face competition from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Galatasaray. The Portuguese international aims to finalize his next career move before the 2026 World Cup to maintain focus.
Silva stated in a recent interview with Canal 11, “I want to resolve it between the end of the season and the start of training with the National Team so I can have a clear head, because the World Cup is too important a competition for me to have my head on other things.” This desire to settle his future early is seen as an advantage for Juventus.
Juventus has already initiated contact with Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and plans for further discussions. Italian reports suggest that CEO Damien Comolli will be involved in these negotiations. Unlike Barcelona, which is facing financial constraints requiring player sales before new signings, Juventus is in a stronger position to act on its interest.
Silva has also indicated that a return to his former club Benfica is not currently on the cards, although he expressed a desire to return one day. Despite lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer, Silva remains committed to playing at the highest level in Europe. The primary contenders for his signature appear to be Juventus and Barcelona, with Atletico Madrid also reported to be interested.
While no formal offers have been made by the Spanish clubs, Juventus has reportedly proposed a two-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months, offering wages of approximately €6 million per season plus bonuses. Silva is believed to be seeking a three-year deal at €8 million annually. Reports suggest there is room for negotiation on both sides.
A key meeting between Comolli and Mendes is anticipated shortly after the conclusion of the Serie A and Premier League seasons, which are set to wrap up on May 24th.
