Inter coach Cristian Chivu has declared that their Coppa Italia semi-final encounter with Como tonight is an “all or nothing” battle, as the team is targeting a domestic double.
The match is scheduled to kick off at San Siro at 20:00 UK time (21:00 CEST).
The first leg concluded in a goalless draw in Como on March 3rd, meaning the outcome will be decided in this second leg. Should the score be tied after 90 minutes, the match will proceed to extra time and potentially a penalty shootout.
The winner of this tie will advance to the Final on May 13th, where they will face either Atalanta or Lazio.
Chivu Ready for the Inter-Como Showdown
“This is one of our objectives, and we understand the significance of this game. We will give our absolute best. Starting from 0-0, it’s an ‘all or nothing’ situation today, with a place in the Final as the prize,” Chivu stated to Sport Mediaset.
“It will be a challenging match for both us and them, as we’ve observed in every encounter with Como. They are a well-drilled team, capable of various tactics, and possess great versatility.”
The two sides previously met in Serie A at the Stadio Sinigaglia on April 12th. Inter managed a dramatic 4-3 victory after trailing 2-0, extending their lead at the top of the league table to 12 points.
Although Denzel Dumfries scored twice in that league fixture, he will be on the bench for this cup tie, with Luis Henrique starting.
With a commanding 12-point advantage in the league, Inter remains in contention for a prestigious Scudetto and Coppa Italia double in the same season.
“From the outset, our aim was to establish consistency in our work, remain competitive throughout the season, and create opportunities to achieve significant milestones in the latter stages of the campaign,” Chivu added.
“We have reached that point; we are here, and we will fight until the very end.”
