Como director Carlalberto Ludi has asserted that Cesc Fabregas is a “pillar” for the team and expressed certainty that their partnership will continue for an extended period. Ludi stated that the club never felt a significant threat of losing the Spanish midfielder.
The Coppa Italia semi-final second leg is set to commence at San Siro at 20:00 UK time. The first leg concluded in a goalless draw at the Stadio Sinigaglia on March 3rd, leaving the tie wide open and potentially heading into extra time and penalties if the score remains level after 90 minutes.
The winner of this tie will advance to the Final on May 13th to face either Atalanta or Lazio.
Como’s Trust in Fabregas’s Future
“Cesc is our pillar around which the entire team revolves. I’ve stated for years that he is a phenomenon; he possesses an ambition and hunger I’ve never encountered in anyone else,” Ludi told Sport Mediaset.
He continued, “We owe him a great deal, and we are completely aligned in every aspect – culturally and in terms of objectives. I am convinced we will continue together for a long time, as much as we owe him, he also owes Como a significant amount.”
Last summer, Inter Milan was among the clubs that reportedly approached Como with the intention of signing Fabregas, and speculation has also linked Real Madrid with a move for him in the upcoming season.
“We never felt afraid of losing him. Naturally, one can never definitively predict the future, but we have faith in our relationship with Cesc and the quality of the work we undertake daily.”
These two teams recently met in Serie A on April 12th, where Como squandered a two-goal lead to ultimately lose 4-3. Since then, they have also suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo, causing them to drop to joint fifth place in the league standings alongside Roma.
Como has notably altered their tactics on multiple occasions in recent weeks. For this evening’s match, they appear to be employing a three-man defense, with Tasos Douvikas leading the line as the center-forward.
