When asked if he's as good as his father, the right-winger, currently playing in the Red Devils' youth academy, confidently states he's 'a different player.'
Kai certainly has a unique achievement to boast about, one his illustrious father never accomplished. Last weekend, he made headlines by featuring for the U16s against Blackburn, playing one half where he scored two goals and provided two assists. Remarkably, he was then also deployed for the U18s, again against Blackburn, where he found the back of the net once more.
This sensational performance adds to Kai's impressive early career. He has already made seven appearances for the U18 squad, including a memorable debut at Old Trafford in the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals. Despite accumulating 'only' 140 minutes of play so far, he has already notched up two goals at this level. His father, Wayne, shed light on his playing style: 'He used to play as a striker, but he's moved to the right. He's left-footed and likes to cut inside from the right.'
Kai shows no signs of buckling under the pressure and scrutiny that comes with his famous surname. He is rapidly making a name for himself, both on the pitch and through his social media updates detailing his early milestones. It seems, in this instance, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
