Rennes Positioned to Sign Venezia’s Versatile Talent Hainaut for €10 Million

Sport news

French club Rennes is reportedly preparing a significant offer, potentially reaching €10 million, for Venezia’s highly versatile defender, Antoine Hainaut. The 24-year-old French player was instrumental in Venezia’s recent promotion to Serie A.

Hainaut initially arrived in Italian football in January 2022, transferring from US Boulogne to Parma for a modest €300,000. Venezia later acquired his services last summer for a mere €550,000. He proved to be a pivotal player in Serie B, contributing significantly to Venezia’s league-winning season and securing their promotion.

Hainaut’s Stellar Season with Venezia

This past season, Hainaut showcased his adaptability and talent, registering five goals and six assists in 37 appearances across Serie B. He demonstrated his versatility by playing in multiple positions, including right-back, central defense, and midfield.

His impressive performances have led to a dramatic increase in his market value. According to French publication Footmercato, Rennes is actively seeking to bring Hainaut back to his native France. The reported €10 million bid represents a substantial sum that Venezia might find difficult to refuse, even with their newfound status in the top flight.

Hainaut’s current contract with Venezia is set to run until June 2028.
