Brocchi: Italy Doesn't Need Baggio or Del Piero to Conquer Bosnia for World Cup Spot

Former Milan and Fiorentina midfielder Cristian Brocchi has expressed his satisfaction with the strong mentality demonstrated by the Italian players during their recent match against Northern Ireland. He is confident that the Azzurri possess sufficient quality and determination to secure their World Cup qualification against Bosnia, asserting that they do not require legendary figures like Roberto Baggio or Alessandro Del Piero, regardless of any hostile atmosphere they might encounter in Bosnia.

Brocchi Praises Italy's Approach in Play-off Semifinal

The Italian national team is scheduled to depart for Bosnia today, ahead of their critical World Cup play-off Final encounter with Edin Dzeko's Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Speaking in an interview with Sport Mediaset, Brocchi, a two-time Champions League winner with Milan and a former teammate of Gennaro Gattuso, shared his insights on the impending final.

"I was particularly impressed by the character displayed by the key players," he stated. "They clearly understood the significance of the match. I genuinely hope they can maintain this level of commitment and attitude in the upcoming final."

Brocchi further added, "I believe Gattuso has effectively conveyed his message to the team. His press conference, where he emphasized the fundamental values that underpinned our own successful careers, truly resonated with me. While Italy may no longer boast players of Baggio's or Del Piero's legendary calibre, they undeniably possess a robust squad perfectly suited for this demanding challenge."

The Azzurri anticipate a challenging and unfriendly welcome in Zenica. This expectation comes even after FIFA reduced the stadium's capacity by 20% following incidents during Bosnia's previous home fixture in November 2025.

"Passionate fans are a constant in football, no matter where you play," Brocchi concluded.
