Internal balance, not McTominay’s demands, drives Napoli’s new contract offer
According to Il Mattino, Napoli is keen to finalize a contract extension with midfielder Scott McTominay. The club's eagerness stems from a desire to maintain "internal balance" within the team, rather than being prompted by any requests from the player himself.
The Partenopei are reportedly preparing a new deal for McTominay and hope to reach an agreement with the Scottish international very soon.
Reports from the Neapolitan press indicate that club directors believe the 29-year-old genuinely merits a new contract based on his consistent performances, not because he has sought one or a higher salary.
Despite the former Manchester United midfielder never having lodged financial complaints, Napoli is preparing an improved offer, including a pay rise, for their midfield star. This move is intended to preserve the overall harmony and balance within the squad.
McTominay's current contract at the Stadio Maradona is valid until June 2028. However, previous news suggested that the club plans to extend his tenure by an additional two years, pushing his stay until 2030.
This season, McTominay has been in excellent form, contributing ten goals and four assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
He also played a crucial role in securing the 2024-25 Scudetto victory and was subsequently named Serie A's best player for the season.
