Lazio 1-1 Parma: Cuesta Disappointed but Praises Team's "Great Performance"
Parma coach Carlos Cuesta expressed his disappointment after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Lazio, feeling they deserved more than a single point following a deflected equalizer from Noslin. However, the Spanish tactician also highlighted his team's strong performance, viewing it as crucial for their Serie A survival campaign.
“It's a real shame, a great pity,” Cuesta admitted to Sky Sport. “We were robust both defensively and offensively. We delivered an excellent performance, although we were aware we were up against a formidable opponent with significant individual talent that could pose challenges for us.”
Cuesta offered a balanced perspective, recognizing that even a single point is valuable for their progress. “We had the opportunity to win and secure three points, but our approach was correct from the outset, and that will be vital for accumulating as many points as possible between now and the conclusion of the season.”
Parma Coach Cuesta: 'Focus on Earning Points'
Regarding their Serie A survival prospects, Cuesta steered clear of specific targets or mathematical calculations. “We don't focus on league tables,” he stated. “Our safety will be confirmed when the numbers dictate it. Our priority is each match and earning points.”
The Parma head coach further elaborated on his team's core philosophy. “The foundational principle of my football is compactness,” he explained. “Beyond that, numerous other elements related to the squad’s quality were evident at a high standard tonight. We must uphold these standards and strive for further improvement as part of our ongoing development. It's crucial for us to reset after two disappointing defeats, recognize our strengths more clearly, and, most importantly, ensure our supporters can be proud of our efforts.”
