Miralem Pjanic Puzzles Over Italy's Celebration of Bosnia's Victory

Miralem Pjanic, the celebrated former midfielder for Juventus and Roma, has voiced his confusion regarding Italy's celebrations following Bosnia and Herzegovina's triumph over Wales. He emphasized that the upcoming decisive match in Zenica will require significant "personality" from the Italian national team.

Pjanic: "I Don't Understand" Italy's Reaction

"I don’t understand why," stated the ex-midfielder during an interview.

He continued with a smile, "Bosnia is waiting for them with open arms."

"Regardless, we will see how it concludes. Italy is Italy, and we hold them in the highest regard, but who truly knows the outcome? They will need to perform exceptionally well in what will be a formidable environment. They’ll require strong character to secure a victory in Zenica."

Pjanic further warned the Azzurri that the atmosphere in his home country on Tuesday would be far from welcoming.

Italy had previously secured a 2-0 home win against Northern Ireland, thereby qualifying for the World Cup play-off Final. Bosnia and Herzegovina also advanced by defeating Wales in a penalty shootout in their away fixture.

A video showing several Italian players, including Federico Dimarco, celebrating Bosnia’s victory quickly circulated on social media, garnering significant attention.

During a press conference on Saturday, Dimarco addressed his reaction, insisting he was not arrogant and suggested it was "disrespectful" for the Azzurri's celebration to be broadcast live on television.

Pjanic retired last year, having had an illustrious career where he scored 42 goals across 281 Serie A appearances for Roma and Juventus, winning four Serie A titles with the Bianconeri.

The highly anticipated World Cup play-off Final between Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina is scheduled to be held in Zenica on Tuesday, March 31, at 20:45 CET.
