Modric: Milan Would Rival Inter with Better 'Small Game' Results

Luka Modric asserts that AC Milan would be fiercely competing alongside Inter Milan for the Serie A title if only they had secured more favorable outcomes in matches against weaker opponents. His comments come after Milan's narrow 1-0 victory over their city rivals, Inter, a result that has now trimmed Inter's lead at the top of the Serie A standings to seven points, with ten league games still to be played.

Following last night's Derby della Madonnina triumph, the primary discussion surrounding Milan revolves around the genuine possibility of them closing the gap on Inter in the remaining fixtures.

"It’s difficult to say. People always say you win titles in small games, especially in the league," Modric explained, reflecting on the team's season. "We haven’t done well in these sorts of games; we lost too many points. If we’d won only half of these points, we’d be there with Inter. But it’s part of football."

The former Ballon d'Or winner highlighted the critical need for tactical adjustments and improved execution in such encounters. "We need to find a way to improve and get better in these games where teams drop too deep, there’s not much space," he stated. "We need to find a way to do better and maybe play quicker, find a better solution to win these kinds of games."
