Radu Dragusin has voiced his eagerness to join Fiorentina, stating he "couldn't wait to get here." However, he also acknowledged that his experience with Tottenham Hotspur "helped me grow a great deal."

The defender finalized his transfer to the Viola this afternoon. The deal is a loan with an obligation to purchase at the conclusion of the season, contingent upon certain conditions being met.

Dragusin Returns to Serie A

"I feel really good, I am so happy to be here and can’t wait to get started with the lads on the pitch," Dragusin told the official Fiorentina website. The Romanian international is already fluent in Italian, having spent a significant portion of his career in Italy.

His journey in Italy began with the Juventus youth academy in 2018. Following loan spells at Sampdoria and Salernitana, he found his form at Genoa starting in 2022. This success led to a €28 million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in January 2024. Now, he returns on loan for €1.5 million, with an obligation to buy for an additional €17.5 million, which will be activated upon his 22nd appearance for Fiorentina.

"I had already visited Florence a few times when playing for Genoa, purely as a tourist to explore this beautiful city and its welcoming people. A significant season lies ahead of us, and we are determined to perform well," Dragusin continued.

"My time at Tottenham was instrumental in my development, both as a player and as an individual. I will carry with me the memories of the challenging duels against opposing strikers and the high caliber of players I competed against. This experience has helped me mature, and I hope to bring that newfound experience to this new team."

Dragusin will also find some familiar faces within the current Fiorentina squad. "I played alongside Albert Gudmundsson at Genoa, and we have a great understanding. I also know Fagioli, Kean, and Ranieri, so we've exchanged messages in recent days. I was truly looking forward to arriving here."

Dragusin's tenure at Tottenham was notably impacted by a severe knee injury, a torn anterior cruciate ligament, sustained in January 2025. This injury sidelined him for nearly a full year.
