According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Federico Dimarco reached out to his former Inter colleague, Edin Dzeko, via text message on Friday. This communication followed the widespread circulation of a video showing Italian players celebrating Bosnia's victory over Wales.
On Thursday, Dimarco and several other Italian squad members were filmed enthusiastically reacting to Bosnia and Herzegovina's success against Wales in a penalty shootout.
The footage rapidly spread across social media platforms, causing discontent among certain Bosnian supporters.
Gazzetta indicates that the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) views the incident as having been overblown. Nevertheless, Dimarco reportedly sent a text to Bosnia's captain, Dzeko, on Friday to clarify his actions.
The current Inter defender and the former Nerazzurri forward engaged in an amicable WhatsApp conversation, during which Dimarco elucidated the intentions behind the Azzurri players' celebrations.
