Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Sarri highlighted that even with the absence of key players and recent injuries (Danilo Cataldi and Alessio Romagnoli), the team demonstrated significant character in the final thirty minutes of the match. He affirmed that the win, though achieved at the very last moment, was fully deserved. Cataldi suffered a muscular issue, while Romagnoli's problem stemmed from a knock sustained in a previous game.
Sarri Frustrated by Lazio's Difficulties
The coach also emphasized the depressing effect of playing in a largely empty Stadio Olimpico, with only around 5,000 spectators due to an ongoing fan boycott. He believes the club must take the initiative to re-engage with the ultras and convince them to return, labeling the situation "too difficult."
Sarri further addressed his future at Lazio, stating that clarity would emerge after the season concludes. He remarked that to live up to the club's historical standards, the team requires substantial reinforcement. Poignantly, Sarri added that if his previous motivation to stay was the fans, then now, with the stands empty, he himself questions why he remains.
