Soule gives Roma a boost and targets Inter comeback on April 5
The recent international break has provided AS Roma with a welcome opportunity to welcome back one of their key players. Matias Soule has resumed training with the Giallorossi squad members who remained in the capital this week, marking a significant step in his recovery.
The Argentine winger has been sidelined since February 15, following Roma's 2-2 draw against Napoli, due to a pubalgia issue, commonly known as a sports hernia. This injury forced him to miss five Serie A matches and both legs of Roma's Europa League Round of 16 tie against Bologna, which ultimately led to the team's elimination. Before his injury, Soule had been a consistent presence, appearing in all 25 of Roma’s first Serie A matches of the 2025-26 season, starting in 21 of them.
According to updates from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Soule rejoined the reduced Roma group for training on Tuesday, while many of his teammates were away on international duty. While the report cautions that the hernia issue is not yet fully resolved, his participation in training is certainly an encouraging development for the club and its fans.
Soule is reportedly targeting a return to competitive action for Roma's first match after the international break. This crucial fixture sees the Giallorossi travel to San Siro to face Inter Milan on April 5, a game he hopes to be fit for.
Meanwhile, fellow star Paulo Dybala's return to Serie A action is still further off. He is estimated to require approximately another month of recovery. Dybala is aiming to be back with the squad in time for the final five or six matches of the 2025-26 season.
